In one of the largest closed whale areas of Germany is today a piece of world natural heritage.

The Grumsiner Forst is part of the 6,100 ha nature reserve "Grumsiner Forst-Rederswalde".

With 657 ha Grumsin is today the largest natural development area in the biosphere reserve Schorfheide-Chorin.

The World Heritage Committee of UNESCO decided on June 25, 2011, the "Old Beech Forests of Germany"

to inscribe in the list of world heritage.
